BIONOTE: Jerome Visperas Cleofas, PhD, RN

Dr. Jerome Visperas Cleofas is a registered nurse and health sociologist. He is a Professor and Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology and Behavioral Sciences, De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. Jerome is currently the Chair of the Capacity Building Committee of the Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium and the Section Chair for Sociology, Social Work, and Demography of the Social Sciences Division of the National Research Council of the Philippines (2024-2026). He has been a part of a number of internationally and locally funded projects in the areas of disaster health, tobacco marketing, tuberculosis program evaluation, vaccination promotion, film going behaviors, health mis/disinformation, and decoloniality in health. Jerome has multiple research articles published in SCOPUS and Web of Science-indexed journals in the area of health social sciences. Currently, he has more than seventy documents listed in SCOPUS and has been included in the list of the top 2% scientists in the world based on the 2025 Stanford/Elsevier list for the year 2024 in the field of Public Health and Medical Sciences. Dr. Jerome has been honored with the 2024 Outstanding Young Scientist Award in the Field of Sociology by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines.
